Ahoy!
Pin Mill Sailing Club extends a warm welcome to members of other yacht clubs - we hope you find the information on our Web Site useful!
Members of other yacht clubs are very welcome - either as individual visitors or in groups - to visit our clubhouse which is located a cable or so upriver of the Butt and Oyster PH, and offers a relaxed environment with splendid views across the river.
If you are planning a cruise in company in the Orwell we would be delighted to hear from you so please let us know your likely requirements in terms of dates and numbers. For further information about catering options for group visits, (which will normally involve an element of prior arrangement) please telephone 01473 780271 during bar opening times or email
We do not provide visitors' moorings, but there are usually some vacant moorings available on a 'first come first served basis'. Another option is to take a berth at Woolverstone marina from where our clubhouse is a pleasant 15 minute countryside stroll away. This latter option may also be preferred if your visit coincides with LW Springs when access to the public hard at Pin Mill is less easy.
Pin Mill Sailing Club is situated on the south bank of the beautiful River Orwell just 6 miles down river from the port of Ipswich in Suffolk. For Tidal information, click here.... The sailing at Pin Mill is mainly for cruisers and day boats and there is handicap racing for cruisers. Apart from the racing there is an active social programme including cruises to Holland each year.Yachts can be moored at Pin Mill and the public hard provides landing facilities. There are two small boat-yards in Pin Mill which can provide winter storage, lifting and launching for yachts up to 10 metres. The river also provides the traditional approach to yachting, which means you should be prepared to get muddy and not expect a Marina!
For bar opening times. please click here. Visitors are welcome to use the bar during these times provided they sign the Visitor's Book, and, since part of our objective is to promote the social side of sailing, we would also ask that they also make themselves known to one of the Flag Officers or Committee Members who will be pleased to welcome them. Please note that food is not generally available except by pre-arrangement for groups, but bacon rolls are normally available on Sunday lunchtimes.
