Following the very successful wine tasting hosted by Lidl's Master of Wine - Richard Bampfield, we get his personal updates on what is good at Lidl! The latest is:
Updated 21st March 2022
If the wine rack is looking a tad depleted, help is at hand in the form of the next Lidl Wine Tour which hits the shelves on Thursday, March 24th. An eclectic selection this time around, with some of my favourites below.
Champagne Premier Cru A. de Senneval - £19.99 - Good quality Champagne with just a little more class and depth of flavour than the usual Comte de Senneval.
Crémant de Loire Rosé Brut, France - £9.99 - I’ve tried this twice recently and loved it both times - fresh, juicy, dry and unbelievably moreish.
Forget Me Not Sparkling Sauvignon, Slovenia - £9.99 - Some of you may remember this from 3 years ago. Beautiful, delicate sparkling Sauvignon from Slovenia.
Broadwood Folly Sparkling White, England - £14.99 - Good quality English sparkler at a lower price than normal for our sparkling wines.
Plan de Dieu Côtes du Rhône Villages 2020 - £6.49 - satisfying, smooth French red.
Gestos Malbec + Malbec 2020, Argentina - £7.99 - another wine that is back by popular demand - fine balance of flavour and freshness.
Outlook Bay Pinot Noir, Central Otago, New Zealand - £9.99 - Excellent New Zealand Pinot, typically pale but with fine perfume and plenty of flavour.
Encostas de Caíz Loureiro Alvarinho, Portugal - £7.49 - This label may be familiar too, as is the quality - beautiful, light Portuguese dry white. Get some in for spring and summer.
Blume Verdejo Selección 2020, Rueda, Spain - £5.99 - Attractive, dry Sauvignon look-alike.
Pouilly-Fuissé 2020, Collin-Bourisset, Bourgogne, France - £14.99 - Excellent price for one of the most popular names in white Burgundy.
Soul Mate Riesling, Germany - £7.99 - High quality, dry German Riesling - pleasingly light.
Handverlesen Riesling Feinherb 2020 - £11.99 - Probably the best German white we have had to date. Wonderful intensity of flavour, medium-dry and supremely refreshing.
Etyeki Kuria Rosé, Hungary - £6.49 - Lovely, fresh, scented dry rosé from a top Hungarian producer.
Ventoux Cuvée Elegance Rosé, France - £7.49 - Quite full-bodied for a rosé, dry, flavoursome………really rather good, probably best with food.
